How TrustZe Vets Contractors

TrustZe is a free homeowner referral / matching broker — not the trade contractor. We screen independent local pros before matching, then you hire and pay them directly. We do not sell your job to the highest bidder or list unverified crews.

How matching works

  1. You describe the job, zip code, and timing on a TrustZe request form.
  2. We match you with one screened contractor who serves that trade and service area — not a paid directory blast or multi-bidder auction.
  3. You review scope and pricing with the contractor, then hire them directly. TrustZe does not mark up the job invoice.

Matching is free for homeowners. Contractor economics (lead fees, wallet, free-period terms) are disclosed during contractor onboarding — we do not invent public fee amounts on this page.

Screening criteria before a pro enters the network

  1. License verification

We collect license numbers and confirm they match the trade and state the contractor serves (for example ACR/TDLR for HVAC or TSBPE for plumbing where Texas requires them). Pros without a verifiable license stay out of matching.

  2. Insurance review

Active liability coverage is required. Document expiry is tracked so lapsed policies can pull a company offline until updated.

  3. Identity & business checks

We review business identity, service area (state/city), and contact details used for NAP citations on company pages.

  4. What gets rejected

Missing or mismatched licenses, lapsed insurance, no real local service area, inability to provide a written scope, or call-center-only “local” branding keep a contractor out of matching. We do not publish fake rejection counts or invented company names.

  5. Reviews from real jobs

Public reviews are limited to homeowners who submitted a request through TrustZe — not anonymous internet comments. We do not invent star ratings.

What you should see before you hire

  • A matched contractor for your zip and trade — not a blast of cold leads sold to many bidders.
  • A written estimate or scope from that contractor (you hire and pay them directly).
  • License and insurance details you can confirm yourself — TrustZe screens first; you still verify before authorizing work.
  • When a public company profile exists: name, phone, projects, and service area on that profile page.

What you can verify

  • Company name, phone, and service area on each public company page (when a profile is live)
  • License and insurance status badges where the contractor has provided documents
  • Direct contact — TrustZe does not insert a lead middleman between you and the pro
  • Broker honesty: TrustZe matches and screens; the independent contractor performs the work

Who runs screening (process E-E-A-T)

Contractor screening is owned by the TrustZe screening team — the same group that reviews homeowner guides. We document matching steps, rejection criteria, and broker boundaries on this page so homeowners can see the process before they share a project. TrustZe is a matching broker: we are not the licensed trade contractor on your job.

Editorial rules for guides live on editorial standards. Questions: contact TrustZe.

Verified company profiles (what proof looks like)

When a contractor has a public TrustZe company page, you can review name, phone, projects, and service area before you hire. Example: Remodel Denver on our Denver remodeling hub. TrustZe verifies; you hire the company directly. We do not invent reviews or fake provider profiles. Contractors can apply to get listed.

Markets we screen for today

TrustZe is a matching broker founded in Dallas. We currently screen and match in Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, Denver, San Diego, Red Bank NJ, and Warren/Metro Detroit MI — with more markets coming as partner coverage grows. Screening standards travel with us; local licensing boards and permit rules still apply in each city. See service areas and about TrustZe.

TrustZe is not the trade contractor. Homeowners hire and pay the independent pro directly after an introduction.
